Great play all around with many matches going to the wire. The night session saw a spectacular closing match between Forton/Sterrett and Laukitis/Landrum. L & L lead by three games for a good portion of the match however Forton and Sterrett stormed back to level the match at 7 games all. It wound up going to match ball!!! Couldn’t ask for a better day 1! Results and standings have been updated. The Masters has nothing on the Cherry Blossom. Barring any technical difficulties, the Cherry Blossom Finals will be webcast in 3-D! You will need the retro red/blue 3-d glasses to view the webcast. Spread the word, we will send out 3-d glasses on Thursday, we only ask in return you send us a photo of you with the glasses. To get a pair, send an e-mail to cb@princescourt.com by Thursday with “3-D” in the title and include your mailing address. Note: Cherry Blossom Entrants will receive a pair automatically. The Cherry Blossom is only 48 hours away! All necessary (and unnecessary) preparations are being made, we look forward to seeing you at Prince’s Court.
The Easter Bunny didn’t just bring candy today, he also brought the highly anticipated 2010 Cherry Blossom Draw! Use the menu at the very top of the screen to view the draw (or simply click here). The Early Bird hits the gong. We are sold out for the 2010 Cherry Blossom in record time. DATES: Thursday April 8th Noon through Sunday April 10th 4:30PM FORMAT: Entry is expected to include 3 preliminary round robin matches for each team. The tournament is constructed for 3 Groups consisting of 8 teams each, where each Group is divided into two 4-team Divisions. The top 2 teams in each Division advance to the Semifinals. The Round Robin and Semis are 9-game pro sets and timed to 45 minutes each. Finals are best 2 out of 3 sets (3-3 in third set). Note: The format is subject to change at the discretion of the Tournament Committee and depending on the number of entries. ENTRY DETAILS: Includes all Court Fees, Marking, Friday Cocktail Party, Sunday Brunch, Tournament Gifts, a commemorative action photo taken by Plimpton Award winner Michael Do, Continental Breakfasts, Light Lunches, Snacks, a Peter Bender Hug, and Good Times All Around. A $550 value, all yours for an Entry Fee of $185! If you would like to attend the Saturday Tournament Dinner add $95. If you would like the official Boast Cherry Blossom Tournament Shirt add $45. The entry fee is non-refundable after the entry deadline has passed (March 25th). GUESTS: Additional guests are certainly welcome all weekend. $30/guest for the Friday Cocktail Party and $95/guest for the Saturday dinner, Otherwise it’s free. (Note: Do/Carey have been known to pay guests to cheer for them!) ENTRY DEADLINE: March 25 at Noon. Entry is limited to the first 24 Teams. HOUSING: We would be happy to find you a place to stay should you require one. Otherwise, check out the Hotel links to the left, as there are some great deals that weekend! START/FINISH: Play is scheduled to start Thursday and you should plan on playing a match Thursday. As always, we will do our best to accommodate your scheduling requests, but realize they are indeed just requests and not all of them can be met with such a large field. The last final should be done by 4:30PM on Sunday, please schedule your trip accordingly. We will try to schedule those Finalists with a plane to catch before the others, however it’s not always possible. HANDICAPS: As this is a handicap tournament, all players are requested to have a non-volatile, RTO verified handicap. Those who do not will be subject to the evaluation of the Tournament Directors and may not be allowed to enter. |
